Methodology
The calculator sorts cash flows by date, computes XNPV using a 365-day basis, and solves for the annual discount rate that brings net present value close to zero.
Use negative amounts for money invested and positive amounts for money received or current value. This is an educational calculation, not investment advice.
FAQs
What is XIRR?
XIRR is an annualized return calculation for cash flows that happen on irregular dates.
How should I enter investments and withdrawals?
Enter investments as negative cash flows and redemptions, dividends, or current value as positive cash flows.
Why can XIRR fail?
Some cash-flow patterns do not produce a stable solution. The calculator surfaces that as an error instead of showing an unsafe value.
